Busy weekend these past few days. Dr. Horrible is extending it’s free play online on Hulu here. Anyways, Liz seemed to have a good time while visiting. We got to go to the Irish Pub in Downtown Disney. Sad news from Disney, apparently they’ll be closing most of the clubs on Pleasure Island. (Not the pub, though.) We went to see Mary’s play on Friday, which was really great because a lot of people were in town for Eric’s baptism. We had something of a reunion.

Saw Dark Night on Saturday at the IMAX, which great flick, check it out. And Sunday was the baptism.

Sid and Sherry and Eric after the baptism.

I love this second photo of the familia fernandi. I got to use my lensbaby lens, which creates the soft focus effect around the edges. The only problem with the lensbaby is keeping the fingers steady. One day I hope to afford the lensbaby 3.0, which has ability to lock the len’s focus.

My cousin, Liz, has arrived in Tampa as of yesterday. She’s brought lots of jewelery to look at. We’re going to see Mary’s play one last time tomorrow, and Saturday we’re going to see the Dark Knight on the Imax.  Also happening this weekend is Eric Anthony’s christening. It should be pretty busy the next few days.

I’m hoping to make to the Dali museum this visit with Liz and maybe to see the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings out at some university along I4. Can’t think of it’s name at the moment.

Friday I saw Brigadoon in Plant City. Mary’s playing the role of Maggie, which is a dance part. She gets a big dance solo in funeral scene. The opening went pretty well. There were certainly some shaky starts, but on the whole it was very enjoyable. A couple of funny things happened. First there’s a scene where the old school teacher (Mr. Lundie) is explaining about Brigadoon and its history to Tommy and Jeff. Tommy asked “What happens to people to leave Brigadoon?” and Mr. Lundie explained that a stranger could stay in Brigadoon if he loved someone enough, skipping the explanation of why no one can leave the town.

Also funny was during one of the scene changes the stage crew accidentally knocked over a bunch of little fake trees, which fell forward toward the audience. Mary did extremely well in her part and brought a tear to the eyes of many during her funeral dance.

Sunday’s matinee showed mark improvement, especially in the Lundie exposition scene. I think most people settled down into their parts pretty well.

The strings for the show were sometimes a hit or miss though. It felt like they knew and were confindent about some of the music, moreso then some of the other parts. Also it is only a quartet of strings playing, so when one of the players backs away from the confidence needed to play their part, you really hear it.

I look forward to seeing the show once more with feeling this Friday and this time with Liz, who’ll be in town for a short vacation.

If you’re looking for something fun to watch this summer  and you’re a fan of Joss Whedon, might I suggest you check out Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Check out the trailer below. Acts I&II are currently free to watch online, but the mini-musical will only be free for a short time.

Teaser from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog on Vimeo.

I’ve watched the first two acts as of today and so far it’s pretty funny.

So I’ve decided to change up my site to a blog. I will be in the process of changing up pages as I go. Anyways, I’m still working on the information I’ll write about, but figure this is a better way to keep track of things. Stay tuned for more changes.
