So I’m trying something a little different exercise-wise. I’ve decided to start going home for lunch and get outside and jog for 20 minutes or so before eating. I attempted this today, but my right leg basically bugged me the whole time, so I mostly wound up walking. Tomorrow I’m going to try an all out bike ride for 30 minutes instead. See how fast and how far can go in limited amount of time.

I also played tennis for the first time in years this Monday with Sidney. I’ve missed playing. Not that I was every very good, but there is something very cathartic about trying to hit a ball as hard as possible. Sid and I are going to try and start playing twice a week or so, which should be really good. I’ve always loved running the court, etc.

This summer has been rather terrible as far as my exercise goals. I need to rededicate myself to the goal and move forward.

Went down to the Keys for extended weekend with Mary, Savio, Morgan (Mary’s cousin), Marilyn (Mary’s sister), Eliott (another of Mary’s cousins). Sid and Sherry and Paul joined us on Friday night. Had an excellent time. Key West is still fascinating as always. Met an ex-NHL player, running a tourist kitsch shop. He was a fascinating character. Telling us a little of his life story. Called up at 16 played until he was 23 then he broke his leg too bad to continue. We attempted to make it to the Hemingway House, but important piece of info – the tourist haunts close at 5PM. Did see strange outdoor statue exhibit and Key West’s oldest home, which is a free walk through. That was our busy Friday.

Saturday was a late start, but eventually we made our way to Bahia Honda State Park. Beautiful park with beaches, etc. Did a little snorkeling off the beach and saw plenty of little to tiny fishies. Also saw a big iguana, but onshore. Later I went for a short bike ride down the historic 7 mile bridge (The one that’s falling apart that Henry Flagler built for his railroad) and to Pigeon Key. Definitely will want to visit Pigeon Key again when I have daylight to explore it. It served as the base camp for building the 7 mile railroad bridge between Marathon and Little Duck Key and is now a historic area and marine research center. The island is right next to the old bridge and only accessible by foot or bike or some sort of trolley car (Didn’t actually see the trolley car). After the trip I decided my new biking goal is to ride 7 mile bridge and on down to Key West, but will have to work on my riding skills since Marathon to Key West is 45miles and roads are exciting as far as traffic.
